Nelson Semedo has been Wolves’ first choice on the right side of defence since his arrival from Barcelona in September 2020.

The Portugal international made the Molineux switch on the back of a trophy-littered spell at the Nou Camp, which saw him feature regularly in La Liga and the Champions League, with the right-back scooping ten major honours during his time in Spain.

Having started his journey with Sintrense in the Portuguese third tier, Semedo’s big break came in 2012 when Benfica acquired his services and began developing an attacking, exciting full-back.

Having won two Portuguese league titles and three national cups at the Estadio da Luz, during a period in which he earnt the first of his senior international caps, Semedo was lured by Spanish giants Barcelona in 2017 and he repaid their faith during 124 appearances.

After playing almost every minute of his inaugural season at Molineux, Semedo’s second campaign in gold and black saw the defender miss time on the pitch due to injury, but he was still able to surpass the 60-match mark, while netting against Manchester United in the Premier League and Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

The following two seasons has seen the defender go from strength-to-strength with Wolves, as he cemented himself as a vital player in the starting 11.

After his contract was extended for another two years ahead of 2023/24, Semedo earned the honour of being voted as the Players’ Player of the Season to round out a campaign in which the right-back had missed just two Premier League games, while netting an FA Cup goal against Brentford.
