Fraser | ‘It’s always nice to feel recognised and be rewarded’

Nathan Fraser is excited to get the new season underway having committed his long-term future to Wolves by signing a deal until 2028.

Having got a taste of first-team football with Gary O’Neil’s side last term, the academy graduate – who has been at the club since joining at just seven years old – returned to Compton Park last week to begin pre-season training before expecting to go out on loan to continue his development and get senior minutes under his belt.

On a summer of recharging

“My summer was good, it was nice to relax and have a bit of a recharge, but I’m just ready to start the new season now.

“I just relaxed, really. I tried to sleep a lot and try to keep fit, but I also got to go on a couple of holidays with my girlfriend, to Rome and to the south of France, so it was nice to relax.”

On committing his long-term future to Wolves

“I’m pleased to have signed the new contract. I think it’s really nice to have a long-term contract at Wolves, a club where I’ve been for so long.

“It’s a proud moment for me and my family. But I’m just ready to get started now.”

On being rewarded with a new contract

“It means a lot that I know my future is secured here. It kind of feels like I’m used to it now because I’ve slowly gone through all the age groups, so it’s nice to be secure and comfortable here. I’m really happy.

“It’s always nice to feel recognised and be rewarded because you put in a lot of work over all the years here and you make a lot of sacrifices, so it’s always nice to be rewarded.”

On the prospect of going out on loan

“For me, I think it’s really important that I can go out on loan. The main thing for me is to always be improving, because if I want to get to where I want to be, then I’ve always got to keep improving.

“I feel that being in a loan environment is the right way for me improve the most now, so fingers crossed that all happens and it goes well.

“I’m really excited for the season and hopefully I can have a new challenge and by the end of the season I’ll be a much-improved player.”
