Wolves Women midfielder Abi Loydon is next to answer a few quirky questions.
Most memorable place you’ve played football?
I have to say Molineux because it’s my first season at Wolves and playing against West Brom, but I also played at Stamford Bridge when I was about 11 with my grassroots team, West Brom United, so that was cool. The pitch was split into quarters because it was a little five-a-side thing.
Strangest superstitions you’ve seen from teammates?
You’ve heard it before, but it’s probably Tammi. She always has to go to the toilet just before we go out for a game. I don’t know how she takes so long to get ready as well, but it blows my mind. It’s every single game, every time, but only before the game, not at half time. It’s as soon as the ref blows the whistle as well, so she knows we’ve only got two minutes left, but as soon as the ref blows the whistle she has to go. It’s so strange.
Greatest comeback you’ve been involved in?
It wasn’t at tier three level, it must have been at college, but we were 3-1 down in the semi-final and we were against Peterborough and we came back to win 4-3. But I’m still waiting for a big comeback with Wolves because that will be scenes.
Wolves teammate with worst taste in music?
'Robbo' [Beth Roberts] is in charge of the music and she usually has good taste, but I’d say 'Thommo' [Bec Thomas]. She was listening to Celine Dion the other day in the changing room, and I think it’s a bit slow for a pre-match song. I don’t know how she can be hyped up by something so slow. That and she likes country music as well, but it’s not for me.
Strangest moment you’ve experienced in a game?
There was one game when I was at West Brom when we had three sin bins in one half! I thought that was just crazy – but I don’t think the ref was very good, to be fair! One girl got subbed on and she didn’t even say anything, but she was one who got sin binned.
Biggest character in a dressing room you’ve been in?
I’m going to say Phoebe Warner. She’s at West Brom so I was with her for the last few years and she’s literally identical to me. She’s crazy, but I love her. Here, it would be Quiggsy [Racheal Quigley], who is so pure. She’s lovely and really funny as well.
Oddest thing you’ve heard said during match?
I can’t think of anything which has been said on the pitch, but when we were playing West Brom and were winning 8-0 at the Hawthorns, there was a chant from the crowd saying something like, ‘This is why she left!’ I couldn’t believe it! But it was quite funny actually.
Wolves teammates with the worst dress sense?
Everyone says me, but it’s just because I’ve got style and everyone else is boring. I love colour but the rest of them are all dull and boring – but I’ll take it as a compliment! I’m going to say AJ [Abbi Jenner], and I assume she said me. She just wears black or grey, and I think that’s boring and dull. She needs a bit of colour and it might make her happier as well! I reorganised my wardrobe the other day and sent a picture of it to her, and she said, ‘Wow, so much colour’, and I said, ‘Yeah, you need to take note!’
Most unexpected result you’ve had?
It’s got to be the 8-0 at the Hawthorns against West Brom. I think we were all confident going into the game, but I don’t think anyone would have thought it would be 8-0. We were all expecting a much closer game, so 8-0 was really unexpected – but it was really good and was very fun towards the end! As a former West Brom player, I just wanted to get revenge on them. I loved it because I was actually on the team that was thrashing them. I only speak to a couple of their players now, but a few of them I really wanted to smash!
Best goal you’ve ever seen scored?
It wasn’t in a game, but it will have to be Quiggs again in training. Some of the finishes she does, I just can’t believe. I actually stop and clap because I don’t know how someone can do that. Her technical ability is top class. She’ll do outside of the foot, she’ll dink the goalkeeper from far away, she’s great. Obviously we’ve scored a lot of good goals in games, but Quiggsy’s goals in training are what come to the top of my head first.
