Anna Morphet

Switching to Wolves as a teenager, Anna Morphet rose through the ranks in gold and black to take on the team’s captaincy during the summer of 2024.

A former Welsh youth international, Morphet turned out five times at the UEFA Women’s U17 Championship in 2017, before making the move to Wolves from Aston Villa the following year and slotting straight into Dan McNamara’s group.

Starring on the left side of a back three in Old Gold, Morphet made that position her own, growing into one of the finest left-sided centre-backs in the Women’s National League.

Morphet has also demonstrated incredible goalscoring ability, especially from set-pieces, having notched 55 goals in her first 170 appearances from defence.

The influential defender has played her part in some of the greatest modern days of Wolves Women, being a vital part of the team which achieved remarkable runs in the FA Cup and claiming the 2022 FAWNL Northern Premier Division title.

Morphet took over the captain's armband on a permanent basis ahead of the 2024/25 season following Anna Price’s retirement, and also made history that same summer by becoming the first ever women’s player to sign contracted terms with Wolves.

Over the course of her first season as skipper, Morphet stepped into her leadership role with aplomb and continues to go from strength to strength as one of McNamara’s most trusted lieutenants.
