Chiquinho

Chiquinho brought pace and an ability to trouble defenders out wide when he joined Wolves in January 2022 from Estoril.

The Portugal under-21 international arrived at Molineux having been highly thought of in the Primeira Liga, where he appeared regularly during the first half of the 2021/22 campaign.

Hailing from Lisbon, Chiquinho came through the world-renowned Sporting CP academy, before making a permanent switch to Estoril in 2019 having spent time on loan at the club.

The right footed winger, who can operate on either side of the pitch, made his senior debut for the club in Liga Portugal 2 the following year, before his first goal followed in February 2020.

Chiquinho continued his progress in his first senior campaign, as he helped Estoril to the Liga Portugal 2 title thanks to his 13 appearances, while also making the step up impressively to the Portuguese top flight during the first half of the subsequent season, notching three times for the Canarinhos, before moving to Wolves mid-season.

The winger made nine appearances for the Old Gold during the second half of the 2021/22 Premier League, where he claimed three assists, including two in a comeback draw away at Chelsea in the May.

Unfortunately for Chiquinho, he sustained a serious knee injury during a pre-season friendly against Burnley, which saw him miss the entirety of the next campaign. Following his return, he spent time on loan with Stoke City and Famalicao, before spending the 2024/25 season at RCD Mallorca.

Chiquinho has represented Portugal at under-20 and under-21 level, having been first called up by the former in October 2019.

He went on to play four times for the team in the U20 Elite League, with his first game coming in a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands.

The winger’s one and only under-21 cap came two years later as he was brought into the squad for the U21 Euro qualifier against Cyprus, which saw him come off the bench with 25 minutes to go in place of future Wolves teammate Fabio Silva during a 1-0 win.
