Santiago Bueno arrived at Molineux in August 2023, joining following a successful stint with Spanish side Girona.
The central defender – a full Uruguay international – joined on a five-year deal and made 17 appearances during his first campaign in England, bringing both a solid defensive game and confidence on the ball to the right side of Wolves’ centre back department.
Taken from his home nation by Barcelona in 2017, the defender developed at Camp Nou, before opting to progress his career in senior football with Girona, where he moved permanently in 2019.
It was at Girona where Bueno combined his South America grit and determination with defending fitting for La Liga, where he was promoted to with Girona at the end of the 2021/22 season, via the second tier play-offs.
Chipping in with four goals and five assist while at Girona, the 24-year-old made a seamless transition to top tier, helping his side to a top half finish, a clean sheet at former club Barcelona and a victory over Real Madrid during the 2022/23 term.
Following his Molineux switch, Bueno debuted against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup and at Fulham in the Premier League, before tasting victory for the first time against Chelsea, on the Christmas Eve of 2023.
