Enso Gonzalez

Enso Gonzalez has been unfortunate with injuries since moving to Wolves in the summer of 2023 from Paraguayan side Libertad.

The winger came to prominence in the Paraguayan Primera Division during the 12 months prior to joining Wolves, which earned him a first move away from his home nation and to Europe.

By September 2022, Gonzalez had broken into the first-team at Libertad and during the 2023 season, which began in January, he’s become a regular in the starting 11.

Across his 23 league games during his first full season in the league, the Paraguayan scored three times, laid on two assists and proved a thorn in the side of full-backs with his confident, all-round performances out wide.

During the first period of the Paraguayan Primera Division, Libertad lifted the Apertura trophy, earning Gonzalez a first title, while the youngster also enjoyed experience of playing on the continent, having featured in the Copa Libertadores.

Having attracted the Wolves recruitment team for his tenacious South American attitude, Gonzalez arrived at Molineux having played all eight of Libertad’s games since the turn of the 2023 Clausura season.

Taking time to settle into England as well as overcoming slight injuries, Gonzalez first represented Wolves’ under-21 side before making his Premier League debut in the final Molineux match of 2023/24 against Crystal Palace.

While on international duty for Paraguay at the 2024 Summer Olympics, Gonzalez suffered a serious knee injury, which put him out of action for the foreseeable future.

Stats

Enso Gonzalez was called up by Paraguay’s under-23 side just a few months following his move to Molineux, with the youngster making his first appearance for his country in a 2-1 friendly win over Panama in December 2023.

The winger was a regular for the under-23s during the next six months as Paraguay qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Having come of the bench late on in Paraguay’s opening group game against Japan, Gonzalez was in from the start against Israel, but lasted just 14 minutes before being stretchered off with a serious knee injury.
