Dan Bentley

Dan Bentley stepped up to the Premier League for the first time after joining Wolves, with the goalkeeper having previously made more than 400 appearances in the Football League.

A career in the senior game began with Southend in 2009, who made his debut at just 18 for the Shrimps and never looked back, gaining a reputation as a fine penalty stopper – having kept out 13 spot kicks during his career before joining Wolves.

Bentley’s only promotion to date came via that method, as he saved two Wembley penalties to help Southend into League One, earning him a place in the division’s Team of the Season and beginning his upward trajectory in the game.

A move to Brentford brought about second tier football in 2016, with the keeper missing just two games in his opening two campaigns in the capital.

A reliable and influential figure on and off the pitch, Bentley’s form continued at Ashton Gate following a move to Bristol City, where he was number one for three seasons and served as club captain.

Bentley finally earned his Premier League debut just four months after his Wolves move, with the keeper starting between the sticks at Old Trafford against Manchester United, before making his Molineux debut the following week in a 1-1 draw versus Everton.

The 2023/24 season saw Bentley become a key figure off the pitch as he formed part of Wolves’ first-team leadership group, while making five appearances on the pitch, including his first top flight clean sheet in the home win over Burnley.
