Wolves Women were resounding victors over Shrewsbury Town Women as they progressed into the fourth round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Dan McNamara made one change from his side that triumphed over Sporting Khalsa in the previous round as Jade Cross replaced Amber Hughes for the tie at the SEAH Stadium.
After 15 goals in the first two rounds combined, Wolves started in similar fashion as they burst out the gates early with four goals in the opening 20 minutes.
The first came in the sixth minute when Anna Morphet began the attack with a through ball down the left flank that met Beth Roberts, before her cross found Destiney Toussaint breaking into the box who finished neatly to open the scoring.
Just eight minutes later unravelled a replica of the opener, as Roberts found herself down the left flank again, but this time picked out Cross in the penalty area who volleyed home to give Roberts a brace of assists within the opening 15 minutes.
Two then became four within the space of a minute; Becky Anderson added to the rout as her long-range effort found the underside of the crossbar and went over the line in the 19th minute, before Charlotte Greengrass went one-on-one with Katy Smith in the away net and calmly finished past her.
Greengrass made it a brace for herself with a goal in the 23rd minute, as Cross drove down the right flank before finding Greengrass in the penalty area, who smartly volleyed the ball towards goal and past Smith.
Following a rare lull period in the game, both Beth Merrick and Tammi George each added to the scoreline on the edge of half-time; George chest controlled a bouncing ball before volleying a long-range effort home and Merrick added a seventh after her arrowed effort found the top right corner.

Wolves showed no letting up in the second period as Greengrass needed just two minutes to grab her hat-trick with a curling effort into the top right corner.
The scoring reached double figures by the 56th minute with more goals from Greengrass and Merrick; Greengrass cleaned up Shrewsbury’s poor defending as she finished into an unguarded net, before Merrick neatly finished off a Morphet corner to make it 10.
Greengrass scored her fifth of the game in the 67th minute, as Wolves worked the ball well on the right side as the ball eventually ended up with Katie Johnson inside the penalty area, before her low cross found Greengrass to add another.
Morphet added her name to the scoresheet in the 69th minute with a goal directly from an in-swinging corner that evaded everyone in the penalty area. Cross then netted her second of the game just four minutes later after a deft touch inside the six-yard box allowed her to beat Smith in net with a neat finish.
Substitute Ania Denham added a 14th goal in the 75th minute with a superb headed effort that was glanced over the goalkeeper and into the far-right top corner.
After a dominant performance in clinical fashion, Wolves wrapped up the afternoon with 14 goals to send them into the fourth round of the FA Cup ahead of a Black Country derby next weekend where they face West Bromwich Albion Women in the quarter-final of the Birmingham Challenge Cup.
