Lewys Benjamin was ‘buzzing’ to save a stoppage time penalty to secure Wolves under-21s a point in their Premier League 2 clash with West Ham United.
The under-21s have been in good form this season and were well on top against the Hammers in Hednesford on Monday evening but were unable to convert their chances after Tawanda Chirewa had put the side ahead midway through the first half.
Following a West Ham equaliser, the visitors almost snatched victory in added time, but Benjamin was the man of the moment as he denied Callum Marshall from 12 yards to ensure the development side added another point to their tally.
On securing a point for his team
“We’ll take a point from that. It was a really good team performance. I think we deserved a bit better, we created a lot of chances, but that’s football.
“With the way we’d been playing recently, obviously it was a bit disappointing, but we’ll take the point and move on to Saturday.”
On his added time penalty save
“I was buzzing to save the penalty at the end and rescue a point. It gives us a bit of a boost altogether really.
“I thought even at the end we could go on and win it after that, but especially as a goalkeeper, it’s a great feeling to have after saving a penalty.”

On his season so far
“For myself personally, it’s been really good. I got a few games for my country, a few games for the 21s against some good teams, so I’m really pleased and I’ve just got to keep pushing.”
On playing at Keys Park
“It was great to play in front of a lot of people. The game had a real energy to it and it was nice to play here. It’s obviously a great ground with a great pitch, so it was great.
“The pitch helped us play some good football, especially in the first half, with the ball moving a bit, and we were able to play out a bit more, but it’s a great pitch.”
