Wolves’ opponents in the 2025/26 Vertu Trophy have been confirmed, with the under-21s set to face off against Salford City, Stockport County and Wigan Athletic in the group stages.
James Collins’ side will be looking at making it back to the knockout stages having missed out on a spot last season, after being selected as one of 16 invited academy teams to join the 48 clubs in League One and League Two who will make up the EFL competition this year.
Wolves were ball number eight in the Northern section of the draw and were placed in Group A during Thursday afternoon’s draw alongside Salford, Stockport and Wigan.
The under-21s will travel away to all three teams during the course of the 2025/26 season as the four teams in the group play each other once in the first round of the tournament, with the top two teams from each group making it into round two.
After having a good record of making the knockout stages in previous seasons, Wolves were unable to replicate that form last season, as the team finished bottom of their group.
An opening draw against Port Vale, which saw the hosts claim an extra point after winning the penalty shootout, was followed by defeats on the road to Wrexham and Salford - who they will meet again this season.
Fixture details for the 2025/26 Vertu Trophy will be confirmed in due course.
