Jean-Ricner Bellegarde scored his first international goal across a weekend which saw five Old Gold stars represent their counties.
The midfielder netted in Haiti’s win over Costa Rica, while Nasser Djiga and Jordan James added senior caps to their tallies for Burkina Faso and Wales respectively.
Meanwhile, Fer Lopez, with Spain under-21s, and Mateus Mane, representing Portugal’s under-20s, were also in action, while Ladislav Krejci missed out for the Czech Republic due to injury.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde | Haiti 2-0 Costa Rica
Bellegarde recently returned from injury to feature in Wolves’ last two games and continued his resurgence in a Haiti shirt over the weekend. Having represented his country at the World Cup in the summer, the midfielder added a first international goal to his repertoire in Haiti’s Nations League win over Costa Rica. The Wolves man fired home impressively from the edge of the box to open the scoring, before an own goal wrapped up the win. It was Bellegarde’s second cap of the weekend, having come off the bench against Trinidad and Tobago too. Haiti have now won both of their opening Nations League fixtures and have the Dominican Republic up next.

Nasser Djiga | Burkina Faso 1-1 Benin
Nasser Djiga’s impressive form earned him a return to the Burkina Faso team on Friday night, and in turn a first cap since June 2025. A regular in the squads, but not in the 11, Djiga made the most of his opportunity with an impressive display against Benin. A penalty each saw Burkina Faso and Benin share the points in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, with the Wolves man playing the full 90.
Jordan James | Denmark 2-0 Wales
Jordan James was used off the bench as Wales lost to Denmark in the Nations League on Sunday. Having started against Portugal on matchday one, James started as a substitute against Denmark and the damage was done before the entered the pitch, with Wales conceding twice in 13 second half minutes. Soon after the second goal, scored by Denmark’s Gustav Isaksen, James was brought on, but the Danes saw out the win.
Mateus Mane | Portugal U20 1-3 Poland U20
Mateus Mane was heavily involved in the impressive team goal Portugal’s under-20s scored against Poland, despite the defeat. Playing in a central role, and with number 10 on his back, Mane’s quick turn and pass led to Portugal’s goal, which was converted by Gabriel Silva. The Wolves man played 87 minutes; however Poland won the U20 Elite League game 3-1 at the Estadio Algarve.
Fer Lopez | Finland U21 2-1 Spain U21
Like Mane, Fer Lopez also started in the attacking midfield role for his country – Spain’s under-21s. The Wolves man, who scored the winner against West Bromwich Albion last weekend, played 70 minutes, but couldn’t prevent Finland’s youngsters from winning 2-1 in the Euro under-21 qualifier. Spain still top the group and face bottom side San Marino next.

Elsewhere
The injury which ruled Ladislav Krejci out of the Black Country derby continued over the weekend, as the missed the Czech Republic’s Nations League opening day defeat to Croatia.

With Zimbabwe continuing their AFCON qualifiers against DR Congo on Monday, Marshall Munetsi and Tawanda Chirewa will be hoping to add to their goals last time out. Nasser Djiga and Burkina Faso are in action on Monday too against Central African Republic, likewise Ghislain Konan and Ivory Coast against Somalia on Tuesday.
Ladislav Krejci would face England on Tuesday, should he be fit, while Jackson Tchatchoua’s Cameroon take on Congo on the same day. Finally, Fer Lopez will hope to be heavily involved for Spain’s under-21s against San Marino and Mateus Mane with Portugal under-20s when they face Switzerland.
