Bueno | 'The group is super united'

Hugo Bueno says this Wolves group will give all they’ve got to finish the season strongly during the remaining seven matches, and Monday’s showing at Brentford was evidence of that.

The Old Gold’s mistakes were punished during the first half in the capital, but once Adam Armstrong pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time, Rob Edwards’ side were the dominant force and could have taken more than one point home in the end.

Ahead of a lengthy period without a game now, the Wolves players are able to reset for the run-in, and Bueno believes recent results show that regardless of the outcome between now and May, this group is ready to battle until the end.

On a group still fighting

“I think the group is super united. We're all pulling together as best we can and we'll see how things go. We can't deny that it's a very, very difficult [position], but we're aware of that. We're going to take it one game at a time. Every game we can win and get closer, so that's how it'll be. We're going to try to get as many points as possible in these seven remaining games, and hopefully we can get close.”

On a battling point at Brentford

“We started a bit sluggish, and that cost us the two goals. At a place like Brentford, it's very difficult to come back. Afterwards the team picked itself up and showed that we could still win the game, and we were really close.”

On the need for mental strength

“It's not easy at all, but I think the team is doing very well. We’re working very well day after day, and it's showing, especially in the results of the last few games. We're doing things better and better, and we have to keep pushing until the end.

“I'm feeling very good. It's a year I'm really enjoying, despite the team's bad situation, as I’m able to play almost every minute possible. So, I'm going to try to keep going like this and finish the season in the best way possible.”

On his love for Wolves now

“This is basically my second home, so to speak. I came here very young, I've been here for many years, and I feel at home. They've always given me everything, and I'm super comfortable, and the truth is that this team means a lot to me.”

On playing for Spain one day

“The national team is a dream. I think it's something that all Spanish players dream of someday. I work every day for that too. Dreaming is free, and hopefully at some point in my career I'll get that opportunity. For me, representing my country is the ultimate achievement for a footballer.”
