Adam Armstrong says if Wolves match their performance levels from Friday night when Liverpool visit Molineux twice in a week, they’ll be giving themselves a fighting chance of results.
The Old Gold were at their best under the lights on Friday night, beating Aston Villa 2-0, with Armstrong impressively leading the line for his side.
Now, it’s a Liverpool double header in the West Midlands – in the Premier League on Tuesday and Emirates FA Cup on Friday – and having won at Molineux for the first time, Armstrong is now keen for more.
On belief growing at Molineux
“We have to take every game as it comes, as cliched as it is. We need to keep putting in performances like Friday and Arsenal when they played here. But we need to show the fight every week. The fans know what they’re going to get from us – hard work every week – and if we can perform like Friday, it will help us.”

On another win on the board
“It was a great feeling on Friday. With it being a derby game, we knew it was going to be tough, but I thought the lads were excellent throughout the game, with bodies on the line, and we had chances in the game. What a performance.
“We have to keep putting on performances every week, but nights like Friday are for the fans, with it being a derby game, so it was very good.”
On settling into the group
“It’s been brilliant since I first came in. I knew the circumstances before I came, but I can’t thank everyone enough for the welcome. Performances like Friday are why we play football, we know where we are in the league, it hasn’t been good enough, but Friday was massive.
“The manager’s been brilliant since I came in. I knew what to expect and it’s a hard working team which is getting put out every week. The fans have been lacking a few wins this season, but Friday was amazing.”

On his assist for Gomes
“It was a pass. I took a touch down and luckily Joao was there to finish it off. It was a brilliant finish. We knew we were going to get chances in the game. We had to put in a good fight, and I thought the boys were outstanding.”
