Wolves 0 Brentford 2 (Lewis-Potter 63, 83)
Wolves fell to defeat at home to Brentford on Saturday afternoon in their final outing of 2025 at Molineux.
A goalless but positive first half saw the Old Gold head into the break with something to build on after the restart. However, Rob Edwards’ side were undone by two second-half goals from the Bees, with Keane Lewis-Potter netting both.
Jorgen Strand Larsen had the chance to haul Wolves back into the game late on after the Norwegian was felled in the Brentford box, but his spot-kick failed to find its way past Caoimhin Kelleher in goal.
Wolves looked to take encouragement from the previous weekend's narrow defeat to Arsenal, but it was a slow start to proceedings at Molineux.
Flurries into the Brentford final third was as good as it got for the Old Gold during the opening 20 minutes, though Edwards would have been happy with his side’s organisation limiting the visitors to similarly few opportunities.
David Moller Wolfe offered Wolves’ first sight at goal when he forced Kelleher into turning a goal-bound cross over the crossbar.
Moments later, Andre registered the first attempt of the game on the half-hour mark, firing a dead-ball effort into a four-man Brentford wall following a neat move to earn the free-kick.
However, Wolves were almost a goal behind approaching half-time. Lewis-Potter broke free inside the area and called Jose Sa into action for the first time, but the Wolves shot stopper did excellently, parrying to safety.
The first half racked up a total of three attempts at goal in a relatively uneventful first period, but Wolves finished the half well.

Proceedings in the second period unfolded at a faster pace than in the first, with Brentford coming close to the opener on two occasions soon after the restart.
After the home side appealed for a free-kick at one end, Kevin Schade met Lewis-Potter’s delivery and almost headed the visitors in front at the other.
Sa did well to turn the header from close range to safety before, moments later, denying Schade again, this time with a volley from inside the area.
Brentford’s presence in the game continued to grow, and the visitors struck the opener just after the hour mark. Vitaly Janelt floated a long ball towards Wolves' goal where Lewis-Potter pounced on a fortunate bounce before volleying past Sa.
Wolves continued to search for their way back into the contest and the introduction of Mateus Mane provided encouragement. The young attacker did well to steal possession off Mikkel Damsgaard high up the pitch before floating a ball to the back post, but Moller Wolfe’s header sailed onto the roof of the net.
However, moments later, Wolves were nearly caught out. Damsgaard latched onto a long ball to set himself through on goal, but Sa did enough to force the midfielder to strike wide.
Despite Wolves’ upturn in momentum, Brentford doubled their advantage against the run of play. Damsgaard clipped a neat ball into the path of an arriving Lewis-Potter, who diverted his volley back across goal to beat Sa.
Wolves were handed a lifeline when Kelleher brought down Matt Doherty and referee Matthew Donohue pointed to the spot. However, Strand Larsen failed to convert the spot kick when he went to Kelleher's left and was pounced upon by the Irishman, which proved to be the final action of the 90.
