Bueno | 'We are really confident in the work we are doing'

Hugo Bueno believes there is still more Wolves can do to pick up even more points from their upcoming games despite the positive start the team has made to 2026.

The Old Gold were able to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to five matches after their goalless Premier League draw with Newcastle United on Sunday, after which the Matchday Live Extra team named Bueno as their ‘Player of the Match’.

But despite the weekend’s result meaning Wolves have picked up six points from their last four following marked improvements across the side, the wing-back insists the players are not happy and are still very determined to turn their draws into wins.

On taking a point from Newcastle

“It was a tough match, like we knew it would be. They have a really good team, but I think the team showed really good spirits, so I’m really proud of that, even though we didn’t win.

“Obviously, that’s what we wanted, we wanted to win, but it was a good match.”

On defending well as a team

“They started the game well and they had more possession of the ball, but I feel that we really looked a threat for them as well when we had it, and that’s an important thing.

“It was a difficult one, but I think we got through it really well.”

On still needing to do more

“I think the key is those moments when we get the ball back, we just need to try and keep it a bit more. We need to get a few passes together, because when you lose the ball straight away, they are a really dangerous team.

“We know we have to improve those things, but even with that, I think we did a good game.”

On turning draws into wins

“We are 100 per cent more solid and competitive now. We are really confident in the work we are doing, but we just need to get those wins.

“Even though right now the draws are a good result, we are not happy because we know we have to get more wins, and we will fight for that.

“Hopefully the next one is going to be a win.”
