Agbadou | 'We need to think about our game'

Emmanuel Agbadou is hoping he can build on his Premier League debut when Wolves travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea tomorrow evening.

The Ivorian centre-back got his first taste of English top flight football in what was a difficult Wednesday night for the Old Gold in Newcastle, but having faced one of the division’s deadliest strikers in Alexander Isak last time out, Agbadou insists he is prepared for whatever the Blues throw at the Wolves defence.

On his debut against Newcastle

“My first one was good, because it's the best league in the world. I knew I was going to appreciate how the atmosphere here is, but it’s even more amazing.

“It was a good game, it was a good first game, and it was a good battle with it, but this is the Premier League where one mistake leads to one goal. We will learn for the next game, but I'm so happy to be here.”

On coming up against Isak

“It's not easy to play against a player like Isak. He played very well, he scored a lot of goals, but he's a good player. We were trying to stop him, but we didn’t have good defensive phases against this striker, but the Premier League is like this.

“They have many good players here, teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, so we need to find a good way to stop the top strikers and Isak is one of those good players.”

On following the Premier League

“I know a lot of the players who play and have played in the Premier League, like Simon Adingra, Eric Bailey, Willy Boly, so I know to be a player if you don't watch the Premier League is impossible.

“I knew all about Wolves and the Premier League before I decided to come here.”

On facing Chelsea on Monday night

“It’s not the moment to ask too many questions. We need to go and try to win the game. We need to use a lot of ways to try to win this game against Chelsea.

“Yes, it's a big game because they’re a good team this season, but we need to not think about Chelsea, we need to think about our game. If we improve some things about the last game for the next game, it will be really better for us.”

On supporters already singing his name

“It’s good to know that you have your song. I’ve not been here for many years, just a few weeks, so I appreciate it and I hope I can give my all for the supporters, for the team, and I will do the same against every team this season.”
