Gomes | 'We need to improve ourselves'

Rodrigo Gomes says Wolves’ effort couldn’t be faulted on Monday night, but more work is needed to turn chances into goals.

The Old Gold were beaten by a more clinical Nottingham Forest side at Molineux and created a number of big chances in the first half, without beating Matz Sels, who excelled between the sticks. After the break Forest frustrated the Old Gold and added a third on the break, meaning Vitor Pereira’s side must dust themselves down and go again, according to Gomes.

On taking chances being the difference

“We created a lot of chances, but unfortunately we couldn’t score a goal and Nottingham Forest scored three goals. We played well, but we couldn’t stop Nottingham Forest on the counter attacks. They are very good and they scored three goals. But we worked a lot, we ran a lot, and that's an important thing to take to the next game.”

On struggling to deal with Forest

“They have very fast players up the front and a big striker. They practice a lot, so they score a lot of goals like this. We tried to stop them, but they are very good at it. We stopped a few but we conceded three goals, so we need to improve that. We need to improve our game.”

On being a threat with Lima

“Me and Pedro create a lot of chances and did very good crosses, we created a lot of chances to score. Unfortunately, we didn’t score any goals, but we need to work on that. We need to score the goals, because if we scored a goal, I think the game would have been completely different, and maybe we could have won the game. We need to improve ourselves, keep working hard and hopefully we win the next game.”

On a positivity under Pereira still

“We feel it on the pitch, we never stop working, we never stop running, we never stop believing we could win the game, and that's the most important thing. We are very good team now, we are compact with energy. We need to keep working, to keep practicing, to keep improving, to win more games and to improve ourselves.”
