Nathan Fraser says the players are fully aware they need to be better, following defeat to Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
The youngster, who came on as a half-time substitute, believes a sloppy start to the game set the tone at Molineux, before the Bees struck twice in each half to secure victory. On a personal level, Fraser has spoken on his second experience of playing in the Premier League and remaining at the club following the closure of the transfer window at the start of the month.
On starting the game sloppy
“At the start we were a bit sloppy with the ball and that went through the whole game. The corner we conceded in the first half should never happen and from there, against a team like Brentford, it’s always going to be difficult to come back into the game.
“From the start, we were a bit sloppy and then Brentford had the momentum. We just struggled to get back on our feet and start to string some passes together.”
On Matheus Cunha going off
“As soon as he goes down, you could hear the crowd go silent. It’s a shame and hopefully it’s nothing too bad, but if one player goes down we’ve got to keep going – we’ve done that all season.
“When Channy’s (Hee Chan Hwang) gone, (Pedro) Neto’s been injured, we’ve been able to come together as a team and we’ve got enough quality to keep going.”
On knowing they need to be better
“A lot of the players are experienced and we’re adults, so we know when we need to do better.
“We put enough pressure on ourselves and we need to do better. I think Gary knows that. He doesn’t need to come in and tell us that we haven’t been good enough. We know that in ourselves, so we need to reflect, recover tomorrow and be ready to work because we’ve got Tottenham next week and we need to be ready for that.”
On remaining level-headed
“For me, I just try and stay level because you never know what’s going to happen. You could go on loan and it might not work out or you could stay and it doesn’t work out.
“I’ve got to trust in the club that they know what’s best for me and give 100% if I stay here and give 100% if I go on loan. That’s all I can do really.
“The way it was this window and the summer window, everything was out of my control. I try not to let it affect me, otherwise you’re overthinking all of the time.”
On playing in the Premier League
“I love it, to be honest. To be on the pitch and come on is nerve-wracking, but you get out there and it’s fun.
“It’s good to be out there and it gives you a lot of confidence when you come on the pitch. I don’t feel like it’s out of my depth. When I come on, I feel like I can be comfortable and with improvements and working hard every day, I can get to this level.”
