Craig Dawson has called on Wolves not to dwell on Thursday’s defeat to Manchester United and move their attention quickly to Chelsea on Sunday.
The Old Gold’s nine-match unbeaten run at Molineux came to an end, but Dawson still took heart from the character on show to fight back from 3-1 down in the second half. Chelsea are a team Wolves beat on their own patch on Christmas Eve and Dawson wants the same application as that day when they make the trip to Stamford Bridge this weekend.
On the Man United disappointment
“It was an intense game. Obviously, disappointed to come away from the game defeated. I think it shows the character of the squad to come back like we did, but we were massively disappointed to miss out in the end. United have great quality across the pitch and disappointing goals for us to concede, but there’s no time to dwell on it, we move on to the next game.
“It was a good game. It was difficult to take at the end, credit to the lads for how we came back into the game, but disappointing to lose it at the end. There were a lot of positives to take from the game, but quite a few aspects that we need to learn from and improve from, which we will do.
“We’ve come a long way from when the manager came in at the start of the season, so it’s something to be proud of, but we want to keep working hard and keep progressing, so the defeat, especially at home – our home form has been excellent – was a tough one to take. We dust ourselves down and prepare well for the next match.”
On turning attention to Chelsea
“It’s going to be a tough game. They were defeated as well in the last game, so they’ll have a point to prove, it’s going to be a tough game and one hopefully where we can get back to winning ways. It was a great win at home [against Chelsea]. It’s going to be a tough game, we know that, and one we’re looking forward to.
“You can see the squad they’ve assembled, it’s a very talented squad, so I think you have to prepare as much as you can for the game and, like we did at home, hopefully we can get the win.”
On his partnership with Kilman
“Even last year, the home form was excellent as well. It’s something we pride ourselves on and the fans back us all the way which is brilliant for us. It’s something we’ll be hoping to get back up and running.
“It’s no secret that defensively we worked hard as a team and showed our quality, our pace going forward. I think the fans have made it a special environment to play in for us and it’s a real tough place to come. Disappointed against United, but I’m sure we can get that back.”
