Wolves were beaten FA Cup semi-finalists at Wembley on Sunday but have analysed their performance in a bid to improve for the future. The return of Premier League football comes at St Mary’s Stadium this weekend – the first of the final six fixtures – and Patricio has his sights set on three points and a return to winning way.
On reacting well
“At first, things were a little complicated because our objective was to reach the final and we managed to lose a two-goal advantage. It was hard, but we have to react in the upcoming game against Southampton. We have to bounce back.
“It was hard for the manager and the team as a whole because the objective was of course to reach the final, but we are professionals and must react in the face of adversity. We want to return to be our best and get back to winning.
“Every game, even if we win, we have to meet to listen to what the coach tells us about our performance, independent of whether it’s about what we did well, or indeed not so well. The game (Watford) has happened and we can develop from it. We can look at the mistakes we made to improve.”
On desire to finishing strongly
“We are highly motivated to finish in the best position possible. It’s what we’ve wanted and we’re going to continue working in the same way that got us here. Every game is an opportunity for us to compete, be our best and improve. We want to bounce back to win. There are still six games left before we’re done.”
On focusing on Southampton
“It’s a different game in a different competition. We want to finish in seventh place, so we shall compete for that. We will do our best to win that game. We know that it’s going to be difficult, but we must be even more motivated to play in the Premier League. We’ll do everything possible to win.
“This team will be different to the team that we played in the first round of games. We’ll also be away. It’ll be different to when we played them here. It’ll be a good match and we’ll be competing and doing our best to get the win. We will be training so that we are at 100 percent.”
On improving at Wolves
“Every match, every training session is an opportunity for me to evolve and to improve. So, at the end of my first year here, I’ve noticed some rapid growth because it’s a new competition, everything is completely different.
“The game is different, the tactics are different, the technique is different. It’s been a very good experience. I take advantage of every game and of every training session to grow, to evolve.
“I will continue to do that. In every training session, I want to develop. I’m happy with the initial phase that I’ve had here. Of course, I’m very happy to be doing well but I still want to do better. I want to adapt further.”
