Andre insists Wolves need to start keeping clean sheets if they’re to challenge this season, so said Sunday’s stop out at Sheffield United was a good start.
After four Championship matches without a clean sheet to start the campaign, Andre said it was at the forefront of the players’ minds at Bramall Lane, where Wolves battled hard to ensure Jose Sa wasn’t beaten between the sticks.
It then meant the fine team move which led to the goal, and involved the Brazilian who was later voted Player of the Match on Sky Sports, turned one point into three and fully rewarded the clean sheet.
On getting an important three points
“It was a great, great win. I think we deserved this win. It was a tough game, a difficult game, but I think we played very well and in the end we deserved the goal.
“I’m so happy to be here. I want to thank everyone, all the staff – thank you.”

On a fine team move
“I think it was easy [to score] for Raul – he’s always there, on the second post. I was very glad to give a good pass to ‘Trips’ who passed it to ‘Tom’ and I think it was a good team move and in the end everything worked out.”
On the importance of a clean sheet
“On Sunday we were remembering that we’d conceded ten goals in the first five matches, so we knew we needed to compete a lot and defend well. We did this, we competed, we fought for each other, we helped each other, and it was a good win.
“A clean sheet was very important. The teams which want to get promotion need to defend better. We need more clean sheets and to defend better, and Sunday was a great start, and we need to keep going.”
