Ruddy On Golden Glove Win

John Ruddy was presented with the Championship Golden Glove award in the midst of Saturday's title celebrations, but was keen to praise his team-mates for Wolves' excellent defensive record this season.

After signing in the summer, Ruddy has played every Championship game this season, conceding a league-low of 36 goals in 45 games, and keeping 24 clean sheets in the process.

After his latest - and fifth successive - shut-out against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, Ruddy spoke of the importance of the work of the entire team.

He said: "Credit goes to the boys in front of me, and that doesn't just mean the back five. That's all the boys throughout the team - defence starts from the front.

"We're well-drilled, we're disciplined and we're consistent in the way that we play, and that's helped us get the amount of clean sheets that we have done. From a personal point of view, the Golden Glove is a great accolade, but I can't take anything away from the rest of the team."

Ruddy's Championship winner's medal was the first of his career, although he has previous enjoyed promotion to the Premier League as both a play-off winner and a league runner-up with Norwich City.

His Premier League experience extends to four seasons, and he is sure that Wolves have the right ingredients in place to ensure that they thrive in the top division.

"The club has got such potential," he continued. "You look at the manager, the owners and the players who are already in place and there's real potential there.

"We'll enjoy the summer but then we'll come back for the Premier League and work even harder than we have this season."
