This Is Our Identity

Nuno Espirito Santo says that his team know what they’re up against as Wolves face Preston North End in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.

Wolves head into the game on the back of three straight victories in the Championship which sees them head into the game 12 points clear at the top of the table.

Despite having a lead at the top, Nuno is not getting carried away as he expects a tough test from seventh-placed Preston on Saturday.

“I know it’s going to be a very tough game - Preston are a very good team and they’re doing well,” Nuno said.

“They’ve got good players, a good manager, experienced squad - we know what we’re going to face but we are ready and we want to play good.

“We want to fight because in every game and every stadium we go to, this is our identity.”

Wolves will be backed but 5,600 supporters who will make the trip to Deepdale for Saturday’s fixture.

Nuno explains the importance of the travelling support and he is hoping that his players can reward the fans’ support with a positive result.

He said, “The atmosphere from the Wolves fans is always very important.

“There are so many people going to support us - it’s very important to us and it means a lot to us.

“First of all we are very thankful to them because of the atmosphere that is going to be created tomorrow - it’s going to help us feel almost like we are at home which is a big advantage.

“Secondly, we are going to do all that we can, all of the minutes in the game to pay back the support that have been giving us.

“It helps us a lot, feeling at home - you’re going to be fighting against a team, it’s going to be a good atmosphere with each fans supporting their own teams.

“Knowing that we’re going to have 5,600 means a lot to us, it gives you a lot of energy and motivation to do it well.”

Nuno is leaving no stone unturned in his preparation for every game as he explains that confidence, alone, is not enough to win a game of football.

He explains the detail that the coaching staff and himself go into in preparing the players for a game.

"Confidence comes from the hard work and the way we play and the way we perform - the results we’ve been achieving,” Nuno continued.

“This is the confidence of the boys but it is not enough - every detail is important.

“We don’t only do technical, physical and tactical things - we also do the motivation, the preparation for the game.

“The right focus, knowing what we want for each moment of the game -this requires a lot of hours and it’s been very good.

“The only thing we have to focus on is inside the pitch, and when you retain your focus and your concentration inside the pitch knowing your tasks, everything else comes naturally because what is outside, you can’t control.

“You can only control what’s inside the pitch.”
