We Must Be Really Focussed

Nuno Espirito Santo believes Wolves will have to be at the top of their game if they are to take anything from Friday night’s Sky Bet Championship clash against Fulham.

Nuno’s men responded to defeat at QPR last weekend with a strong 2-0 win away to Norwich City on Tuesday evening. And the Head Coach knows his side will have to be at their best again to earn a result against a strong Fulham side.

“It was very important to bounce back from a bad performance and be able to get back with a good result and a good performance, being solid and being consistent,” said the Head Coach.

“It’s very important when you want to progress and grow a team.

“It was very good but it’s over and tomorrow we have a new challenge in front of us. Fulham are a good team who were in the Play-Offs last season so it’s going to be a tough game for us.

“They play really good football and we must be really focused and concentrated on that. Then, at the same time we have to try to project our game and put our idea on the pitch.

“Each time you are able to control your opponent and be stronger, you are closer to winning.”

After games against Manchester City, QPR and Norwich on the road, Wolves return to home comforts on Friday evening.

“We look forward to playing at Molineux again in front of our fans. Their support has been unbelievable,” explained Nuno.

“We’ve been away for three games in a row so it will be good to get back to the stadium with a good atmosphere.

“I still believe we have to focus only inside the pitch, this is where you can affect everything else.

“We know we’re going to have the support so it’s up to us to do the job well.

“Performing well goes beyond entertaining people. Perform well. Do your tasks, help each other to achieve the same objective.

“The team is more than one performance. If you’re not doing well then your team mate will be next to you to achieve this level of performances.

“It’s a big challenge for the boys, each game they try to do better than the last one.
“They believe in that and that shows when they bounce back from bad performances and we achieve what we want but there’s still a long way to go.

With an international break to follow the Fulham game, Nuno is eyeing a good opportunity for his players to rest but assured supporters that his side would still be putting everything into the Fulham game.

He said: “There’s no other way. Every day is important. How you approach this challenge determines the final result.

“The final result is to try to perform well in this game and prepare for the next one. Perform well is what we want to achieve.

“We know there’s an international break so it’s a game that can go further.

“The break will be important. We’ve had a tough cycle of games and the hours between matches are short.

“I believe that, to recover the players, we need more time. 72 hours is too short.”
