Match Preview | Wolves Vs Aston Villa

A local derby with Aston Villa looks set to test the credentials of Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves side, with two in-form teams going head-to-head in front of the TV cameras.

Wolves signed off for the international break with a thumping 4-0 win over Burton Albion, which left them a point off top spot in the Championship after 11 matches. Back-to-back home games provide an opportunity to strengthen their position in the higher reaches of the division, starting against Villa in front of a packed Molineux. Wolves have suffered just one defeat in their previous seven matches and recent home games have seen Nuno’s men pick up seven from nine points available.

The Opposition

After a slow start to the season, Aston Villa are now building momentum and arrive at Molineux on the back of four successive Championship victories. Their most recent, a 1-0 home success over Bolton Wanderers, saw them move to within a point of the Play-Off positions. Villa returned just one win from their opening seven matches of the campaign, but responded well in mid-September to see off Barnsley, Nottingham Forest and Burton Albion, prior to the Bolton victory at Villa Park.
