I'm Proud To Be Here

Lambert reflects on first six months

Paul Lambert says he has 'absolutely loved' his time at Wolves so far and says he is excited for the summer ahead.

Wolves closed the season with a 1-0 victory against Preston North End at Molineux on Sunday.

Reflecting on the season, Lambert was full of thanks to the supporters and he hopes that he can bring success to the club next season.

“It’s important to say thanks to the supporters. For me, I’ve absolutely loved my time here, it’s been absolutely great, we’ve had incredible highs.

“Going back to the cup games, they were astonishing.

“In all my time in management, I’ve never been involved in three massive games like that in the FA Cup, bouncing along and bouncing along and bouncing along against two unbelievable sides and one who’s been in the Premier League for a really long time.

“It was really tough but the support showed me the size of the support that this club’s got.

“Going to Anfield and winning, going to Stoke and winning, having Chelsea and running them close here, Villa, Fulham, Brentford - you can go on and on, there have been so many highs here, there really has.

“The perception outside is that Wolves have finished mid table but there’s been so much upheaval here in the summer and hopefully it stabilises itself and we kick on, we get players in to help the group and you drive it on.

“That is vital for this club to move forward. It’s an incredible infrastructure here, it can be great.

“A massive thanks to the supporters for the support that they've given me.

“I’m proud as anything to be here."

Lambert believes that consistency is required in order for Wolves to succeed next season.

The Wolves head coach says that the players will have a well-earned break, and then the ‘real work starts’.

He continued, “If we’d done what we’d done right through the season in the last eleven games, you carry that right through to the end of the season, points wise we’d be in the play-offs.

“That’s the way it worked out. The start wasn't great, the month of February wasn't great, everything else with consistency gets you into the play-offs.

“People don't maybe realise that until you put it in black and white - that indicates that we weren't a million miles away from it.

“At the beginning, and the month of February hurt us, but to subsidise that, we had an incredible cup run which you ask any supporter, I don't think they’ll forget it.

“And now we’ve finished off with a victory.

“I’m excited for the summer to get it going - I can’t wait.

“The players will have a well-earned break, I thank the players for their effort and then the real work starts.

“Let’s see which players we can get in to help us and hopefully make this whole club as strong as what it can be.”
