Jon Dadi Bodvarsson has targeted a level of consistency both for himself and the team as Wolves head into 2017.
The year started with an impressive performance, albeit only a goalless draw, at Sheffield Wednesday, with Bodvarsson putting in an impressive display having been recalled to the starting line-up.
The previous 12 months were fairly lively for the affable Icelander and, even though he is in need of a goal, he remains in confident mood.
“For me it was nice to be back out there and starting again – I felt good,” says the striker.
“I have had to be patient and keep working hard on the training ground.
“Then I have to do my best when I get the opportunity.
“I want to look for more consistency in my game now.
“It has been a long year with very little break and a rollercoaster year with two transfers and the Euros.
“So yes, it has been a little bit chaotic!
“After a great start it went down a little bit but the confidence is still there.
“The gaffer has been very clever with me and bring careful so I don’t get injured.
“It was good to be back on the pitch and I always want to start games if I can.
“I think my all-round game is good and that is something I can be positive about – and the goals will come.”
On the game itself Bodvarsson was one of many who struggled to come to terms with Wolves only coming away with a point having dominated for long spells at Hillsborough.
“I think it was a strong performance at Sheffield Wednesday,” he says.
“We were really good on the ball and good both in attack and defence.
“It was just about the final third where we could have got the victory if we had taken one of our chances.
“In my opinion we were the best team and were a little frustrated not to get all three points.
“Mason had a good chance in the first half and was unlucky to hit the post in the second.
“On another day we would have taken all three points.
“It was one of those days where we just couldn’t get a goal but we can be proud of our performance.
“Defensively we were really good.
“Everyone was throwing themselves at things – Danny and Richard were really good and everyone as a team defended well.
“Confidence-wise there is nothing wrong with the team and we know what we are capable of.
“As a team there are a lot of positive things going on and we are growing even though not been as consistent as we would have wanted.”
Next up for Bodvarsson and Wolves is Saturday’s Third Round tie in the Emirates FA Cup against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium (3pm).
