The academy graduate opened the scoring for Wycombe Wanderers just two minutes into their 1-1 draw with Exeter City at Adams Park. Campbell has made four appearances for the Chairboys since joining on loan until the end of the season in January, with Saturday marking his second start and first in front of the home faithful. The 20-year-old admitted he is ‘loving’ his first loan experience away from Wolves, with the trust in his ability and advice from teammates providing him with the confidence to keep improving.
On his first senior goal
“It was a great feeling. My family were here as well, so as soon as I scored I ran to them and celebrated with them. Hopefully there are more to come.
“It got played to me and I took a few strides forward. I played it to Wheels (David Wheeler) and he set G Mac (Gareth McCleary) so I just headed into the box and luckily the ricochet fell to me and I tucked it away.”

On his time at Wycombe
“I’m loving it. All the boys made me feel welcome and we’re all settling down ready to move forward.
“Last week at Shrewsbury I just tried to come on and make an impact, create chances and score if I can.
“I’m glad that the gaffer has trusted me today and put me in the starting eleven. I think I did my job, but we were unlucky to not win which is the most important thing.”
On learning from Gareth McCleary and his aims
“He gives me advice every day and I take it all in. I respect him for what he’s done in the game and as long as he can keep giving me advice, I’ll keep listening to him and hopefully it’ll help improve me as a player.
“It’s just to get more goals and assists for my teammates, create chances and hopefully get in that play-off place for promotion.
“We’ve got a good squad so if the manager wants to rotate a few players it won’t be a problem. We all know our job and we just need to keep moving forward now and try and keep getting wins on the bounce.”
On the change in manager
“It was kind of sad for me. I was proud of the gaffer (Gareth Ainsworth) because he trusted me, brought me into the club and gave me a chance.
“Blooms (Matt Bloomfield) came in and spoke to me straight away. He did exactly the same, gave me advice and said he’ll trust me.”
