On this, the first anniversary of the forming of our Valorant division, we look back at our first year in the Valorant Champions Tour China and forward to what can be expected in 2025.
2024 was the first year the China region officially joined the Valorant Champions Tour. Some familiar names, EDward Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix who Valorant fans would already have been familiar with were joined by new names, Wolves Esports being one of them.
Our first roster consisted of Spring, pl1xx, ColdFish, aluba, and Yuicaw with Babyblue, Cyah and FFs in reserve.
This roster had a less-than-ideal start to Valorant life winning just two games and losing four putting us at the bottom of the group and out of the playoff running for stage one of the 2024 season.
Lessons were learnt and during the off-time between stage one and stage two a transfer was made. SiuFatBB joined as in-game leader (IGL) and replaced ColdFish.
Stage two was still bumpy, but more results started going our way as we finished with four wins and six losses. We missed out on the playoffs, but the progression was clear from stage one to two.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season
During the off-season more changes were made including the departure of aluba and welcoming Juicy as well as new Head Coach, Fayde.
However, while waiting for the signing of Juicy to be made official we had the very talented V1ya playing as substitute for two pre-season tournaments.
Tournament one, the WALL-E Cup, saw us beat XLG Esports and All Gamers in the upper bracket before being knocked down to lowers by Nova Esports. But a dominating win in the lower bracket final against XLG saw us get our revenge against Nova winning the grand final 3-1 to be crowned champions.
The next tournament was the FGC Valorant Invitational where we once again showed our improved form brushing aside FunPlus Phoenix twice as well as a host of other teams to make it to the grand final. Here we fell just short as we lost 1-3 and claimed second place.
The third pre-season tournament saw our full roster together at last as Juicy officially joined the pack. The Shanghai Esports Masters saw us beat Paper Rex 2-1 to set up a grand final with XLG and eventually being crowned champions after a clean 3-0 victory.
The new roster shows a lot of promise and gives hope to Wolves fans everywhere that 2025 will be the breakout season for us where we can show not just China what we are capable of but also compete on the international stage.
Fear Nothing.
