In a special episode of the Wolves Express Podcast, Old Gold star Mateus Mane sits down for an exclusive, in-depth chat as he marks two years at Molineux.
Mane has been on a whirlwind journey since signing for Wolves on 25th February 2024, going from being part of the under-18 squad before flourishing in the Premier League under Rob Edwards.
The 18-year-old takes listeners on a look back through his life and career so far, which started in Portugal, where he first picked up a ball with his older brother and his friends, to his move to Manchester at the age of eight.
Mane shares his initial difficulties of arriving in the UK as a child not being able to speak a word of English but how he soon picked up the language. He reflects on his footballing upbringing, which saw him turn out for Manchester-based grassroots clubs Manchester Cobras, Moston Brook and Bee Inspired Football Academy, and how the coaches at those clubs moulded him into the player he is today.
After a short spell with Rochdale, Mane explains how he came onto the radar of Wolves, which led to a successful trial in which he bagged a brace for the under-16s in a behind-closed-doors clash with the under-18s.
The forward reveals the emotions he felt when signing for Wolves, and reveals how he has managed to get from being an up-and-coming prospect to making his Premier League debut, earning a first top flight start and scoring a senior goal in gold and black.
There is also chat about the 'Zombie' chant which the Wolves fans have given him, how he is planning on deciding his international future with both England and Portugal tussling for his allegiances, and what the next few months hold for him.
Released three times a week – every Monday, Wednesday and Friday – Wolves Express is packed with news, updates and exclusive interviews on both the playing and non-playing side of the club, complementing other offerings of the Official Wolves Podcast and Matchday Live Extra.
