To celebrate the 70-year anniversary of Wolves’ historic ‘floodlit friendly’ victory over Honved, a special edition replica shirt has been created to honour the occasion.
The 3-2 win on 13th December 1954 saw Wolves overcome one of the world’s greatest ever sides and led to the eventual creation of the European Cup, and next month supporters can mark the occasion by purchasing their own piece of history.
The replica shirt, created by the club’s kit partner SUDU, echoes the specially designed reflective gold jerseys worn by Stan Cullis’ side that night, and throughout the iconic floodlit friendly series.
With the Christmas period approaching, supporters can purchase the limited edition shirt alone for £60 or a special edition boxed gift, which includes a shirt and further commemorative memorabilia to mark the anniversary, for £125.

Ahead of the celebrations, honved.wolves.co.uk will provide a home for the 70 year anniversary. The site will provide an in-depth breakdown of the Honved story, more information on the upcoming Wolves Studios feature out next month and a closer look at the limited edition shirt.
The jerseys, made from fluorescent material, were used throughout the decade by the club, initially to combat the winter weather and later to reflect the floodlights during the friendly series.
The recreations, which have been modelled by the likes of Mario Lemina and Toti, feature a retro collar, embroidered detail on the sleeve to commemorate the occasion and a jock tag to highlight the historic win.
The shirts will allow supporters, both young and old, to celebrate the club’s proud past and bring it to the forefront of minds again, with Wolves celebrating one day after the anniversary when Ipswich Town visit Molineux on 14th December.
The replica shirts are available to pre-order now, with delivery guaranteed before that Ipswich fixture.
Supporters purchasing the special edition boxed gift will also receive a souvenir matchday programme, jacquard scarf, postcard and the opportunity to win an unforgettable three-night trip to Budapest and experience the thrill of a Honved game VIP-style.
Samuela Melidoni, head of design at SUDU, said: “The Honved anniversary shirt offered us an exciting opportunity to dive into the archives and relive a pivotal moment in the club's history.
“We were inspired by the original shirt, particularly its iconic shine, and aimed to create a contemporary replica that would resonate with today's fans. By seamlessly integrating the modern-day Wolves crest into a fresh, modern design, we successfully honoured the past while embracing the future.”
