Tommy Doyle bolstered Wolves’ midfield options when he arrived initially on a season-long loan from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 before becoming a permanent member of the pack.
Boasting a range of passing and impressive delivery from set pieces, Doyle joined City at the age of eight and spent more than a decade rising through the club’s ranks, before his first-team debut came ten years down the line, with the midfielder starting against Southampton in Carabao Cup back in 2019.
Displaying leadership qualities from a young age, Doyle regularly captained City’s academy teams, while also progressing through each England youth level, and loan spells away only aided the Mancunian’s development.
Doyle enjoyed spells in Germany with Hamburger SV, where he scored his first senior goal, and Cardiff City in the Championship, before the midfielder added 38 appearances to his tally with Sheffield United, scoring four goals and providing seven assists, and producing all-round midfield performances, as the Blades won automatic promotion and reached the FA Cup semi-finals, while also claiming the club’s Goal of the Season award.
He almost matched that in his first year at Wolves, with his stunning strike against Brentford in the cup just missing out on an award. That was to be Doyle’s only goal in his debut Old Gold season, which mainly saw the midfielder come off the bench as he racked up 32 appearances in all competitions, but he showed more than enough for Wolves to turn his loan move permanent.
Doyle played 24 times in the Premier League during his first season as a permanent Wolves player, before heading on loan to Championship side Birmingham City for the 2025/26 season.

Tommy Doyle has been a perennial representative of England’s age groups, having first turned out for the under-16s in 2016.
He has since progressed through each youth level, representing as many as six Three Lions groups up the under-21s, with many of those appearances being as captain, as the midfielder showcased his exceptional leadership skills.
Yet to earn his senior Three Lions debut, most recently, Doyle helped the under-21s to Euro 2023 glory, as he came off the bench in the final against Spain as England claimed a 1-0 win in Georgia.
