Tawanda Chirewa

Tawanda Chirewa joined Wolves from Ipswich Town and initially linked up with James Collins’ under-21 side ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League 2 season.

During his time with the Tractor Boys, the forward made his senior debut in November 2019, appearing as a second half substitute against Colchester United in an EFL Trophy group stage fixture, in the process, he became the second youngest player to feature for Ipswich, behind Connor Wickham, aged just 16 years and 31 days old.

In July 2020, Chirewa signed a two-year scholarship at Portman Road and was then rewarded with a first professional contract four months later.

However, a move to Wolves arrived in the summer of 2023, which saw Chirewa score four times in his first five Premier League 2 outings in gold and black. The form promoted head coach Gary O'Neil to bring him down to train with the first-team squad.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakout season during 2023/24. The forward made his senior bow in the January due to Hee Chan Hwang’s absence at the Asia Cup, featuring off the bench in the Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Chirewa would go on to feature in the top flight matches against Newcastle United, Aston Villa, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest, before earning his full debut at home against Arsenal. 

During the 2024/25 season, Chirewa headed out on loan to Championship outfit Derby County and Huddersfield Town before joining Barnsley the following year.
