Peixoto | 'I am going to rotate some players'

Cesar Peixoto confirmed he’ll make changes to his side against Bolton Wanderers and insisted he has trust in all of his squad.

The Old Gold are now amidst a packed schedule, and after a narrow defeat at Middlesbrough on Saturday, the opportunity to make amends comes quickly, as Bolton visit Molineux on Tuesday night.

The head coach confirmed Fer Lopez and Jordan James, who both returned from international duty with minor injuries, came through their substitute appearances unscathed at the Riverside, and Peixoto must decide if they, or others not in the starting eleven at Boro, will come into his thoughts back on home soil.

On utilising his squad on Tuesday

“We have a lot of games in these two weeks – we have six games in two weeks. We have to manage the players’ fitness and recovery.

“I spoke before the Middlesbrough game and I have trust in all of the players. I am going to rotate some of the players. I have to analyse, look at players we need to manage, and look at the opposition to try and put the right characteristics of the players to win at home.

“We are going to put a competitive team out for sure. I don’t have any doubt. The way we reacted to when we conceded, only a strong team reacts like that.”

On Lopez and James coming through unscathed

“I think Fer felt good in the game. He is an important player for us. I haven’t talked a lot with him, but what I have seen on the pitch is a player who feels well to improve and will help the team to improve. He is an important player, as I say all the time.

“Fer and Jordan I think felt well in the game, which is good for us. We need all the players, and like on Saturday, the players from the bench are very important to improve the team.”

On keeping level-headed

“I’m calm. I don’t like to lose, but I am calm because I liked the way the team reacted when we conceded the goal [on Saturday]. We showed character, we showed passion, we showed a strong mentality, a stability. These things are important.

“The team is going to compete, for sure. We want to compete like we normally do at our home, our fortress. It is important for the supporters, thank you to the supporters who came to help us [at Middlesbrough]. They went home unhappy because the team didn’t win, but they liked the way the team reacted.

“We have an important game at home. Come to support us, because we are going to be strong to try and win.”
