Fer Lopez has been named Wolves’ SUDU Player of the Month for August following an impressive opening to the 2026/27 season.
The Spaniard returned to Molineux during the summer having spent the second half of last season on loan with boyhood club Celta Vigo, and Lopez has thrilled fans with his dominant performances in the Championship and Carabao Cup as Wolves went unbeaten in the first month of the new campaign.
Lopez got his August off to the best possible start scoring his first goal for the club to round off a 3-0 home win over Port Vale in the cup before showing his class in the Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers by setting up Marshall Munetsi’s opening goal with a stunning pass.
The Spanish under-21 international added another two goals to his tally – and his first Championship brace – as Wolves brushed aside Preston North End at Deepdale. Although he was rested for the majority of the Old Gold’s Carabao Cup second round win at Sheffield Wednesday, it didn’t stop Lopez doing everything he could to drive Wolves towards a third goal when he came off the bench later in the game.
Another assist arrived for Lopez in Wolves’ final win of August, as he set up the fourth in the 4-1 win over Stoke City at Molineux to help Jordan James claim his debut goal in gold and black.
Lopez received 53 per cent of the August SUDU Player of the Month vote, finishing ahead of Munetsi whose 23 per cent saw him pick up second place, and received his award at Compton Park this week ahead of the trip to Sheffield United on Sunday lunchtime.
The 22-year-old has also been nominated for the EFL Championship Player of the Month, while head coach Cesar Peixoto has also been nominated for an award following Wolves' unbeaten August in the second tier, with the Portuguese in the running for Championship Manager of the Month. The winners of those awards will be announced soon.
Lopez has also continued his stunning form into September, with his fourth goal of the season coming against Birmingham City last time out, as he cements himself as one of the most exciting players in the second tier.
