The forward admitted the extra time defeat to Watford at Wembley was a wasted opportunity for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, but attention will quickly turn to achieving Wolves’ best top-flight league position in almost 40 years.
On the semi-final defeat to Watford
“We did a very good game and were doing well, playing good and we were trying to defend the result. Watford were doing their job, but the game was there for us.
“They were struggling when we were 2-0 ahead, but then the goal just happens. The first goal is an amazing goal, it’s a great goal and it gave hope to the opposite team.
“Our defensive work was well done until then, but goals can all happen in different ways. We then gave away a penalty in the last minute.
“Unfortunately for us they scored the two goals to take the game to extra time and they were better than us during extra time.”
On the feeling in the dressing room
“It was a short conversation. The manager said to us that we had a good chance which we wasted.
“It’s a bad feeling, the thought that we had the game in our hands, we had a chance to go to the final in our hands, and we wasted it in the last minutes – that feeling is not good.
“We all feel the same way, with our heads down, but now it’s time to think, because we had it. That’s the main thing; we had it in our hands and we gave it away.”
On finishing the season on a high
“We felt like we could’ve reached the final, but we are not there, so now we’re going to rest and then it’s time to think ahead to the Southampton game.
“We have time to focus on the last games and try to go game-by-game to win. We have got six games left to go and we can still achieve good things in the Premier League.”
