The first three Wolves Women's players have committed to professional contracts ahead of the side's first ever campaign in WSL 2.
Following contract offers made over the summer, Abbi Jenner, Amber Hughes and Beth Roberts have all committed their futures to the Old Gold, signing professional deals with the club for the first time. As part of the criteria for a place in the second tier of women’s football, the previously part-time side must become fully professional, with players departing from their full-time jobs to become professional athletes.
Three crucial players in the squad, all featured heavily in the season which saw Wolves promoted to the WSL 2 following a 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle in the play-off final at Burton Albion in May.
Jenner has registered over 50 appearances since her arrival at Compton Park two summers ago from Birmingham City, while both Hughes and Roberts have both passed the century of appearances - Hughes also netting her 100th goal for the club back in October against Stoke City. Hughes was also named the joint Golden Boot winner in the third tier last season - alongside Burnley's Millie Ravening - with 19 goals in 22 league matches.
Manager Dan McNamara said: "AJ, Amber and Robbo were a huge part of our success last season. I'm certain all three with thrive in WSL 2 and I'm delighted they have committed to continuing on this journey into the professional leagues with us."
Further contract announcements are expected in the coming days and weeks as McNamara continues to build his squad for the first ever season in professional football.
