Mosquera | 'We can come straight back into the Premier League'

Yerson Mosquera is fully confident that Wolves will be able to bounce straight back to the Premier League as Molineux prepares for its final top flight outing after eight years.

The defender has been a key part under both Rob Edwards and Vitor Pereira this season, with Mosquera approaching the end of his first full campaign in gold and black, having missed the bulk of his previous league campaigns at the club due to injuries.

But despite Wolves preparing for their impending relegation, Mosquera insists that he will continue to give everything he has for the last two games of the season but knows getting back to winning ways with the visit of Fulham this weekend will be a difficult task.

On Brighton loss

“The game was really hard, especially the way we lost the game in the first 15 minutes. We started the game not being focused.

“We were making some big mistakes with the crosses into the box and the way we conceded the first two goals, this was the point where we stayed down, because in the second half, we tried to push.

“We did the best of ourselves and I know it's difficult, but we are in this moment a Premier League team, and we have to keep pushing.”

On facing Fulham

“They have a really good team, so we know it’s going to be really hard. But we have a good players as well, so we’re going to try to play and fight for every dual, every ball.

“We going to try to do our best to not finish in the bottom of the table. I know some people will say it’s not very important for us, but for me it’s really important, and I work very hard every day. We’re trying to play better and we’re trying to win the last two games.”

On continuing to battle

“I don’t know about the rest of the players, but for me, even though I know we’re relegated, I still try to show my best self, because my future is my career.

“I try to train hard every day and every time when I have chance. It may be that someone or some players that they think like, ‘Yes, we are relegated, so there’s nothing we can do to change the situation’. But for me, it’s different. I think more about my career, my future and myself.

“We can come straight back into the Premier League, for sure. I believe in this club, and that’s the most important thing now – if you believe or not in your club and yourself as well. Wolves are a big team as well, and we have the chance to quality to be back again in the Premier League.”

On not recovering from a poor start

“The most important thing was the first part of the Premier League season where we conceded too many points, we lost too many games, and that was really hard, because we have a really good team. We could have played better, and we could have found more points.

“We still believed a lot [after Edwards came in]. We trained really hard to push for him and I think he has done the best for us, we tried to win more games, but it’s been really hard. I know he’s prepared the training well and done well, and he’s done a good job as well.

“He’s an incredible guy and he’s tried to put the confidence into everyone, to put a specific role for you, and that’s a really important quality.”

On remaining positive

“I’m always positive. Always. When something happens, it’s because you have to do better. You have to take the positive things and put the other things to work to take them to the next step. I always try to talk in my best self.

“I’m very happy, always, with them because this has been my first complete season with the club. I know the situation is difficult and we have been relegated, but I always try to enjoy it. That is my point, because I love football, I love the club, and I just try to be happy for everything I have.

“The most amazing thing is that I feel happy for everyone, for how I do my job, or how I do my trainings, and that is more important, although I’m obviously frustrated for the relegation too.”
